Garden Chapel
San Jose, Batangas
The Garden Chapel in San Jose, Batangas is a non-denominational chapel located within the farm compound.
The chapel was created in memory of an extraordinary young man named Richard and represented his prominent traits:
Generosity. The open space and structure’s forward design spoke to his generous character and serving nature.
Welcoming. The chapel allows visitors to choose between a sheltered area or an outdoor amphitheater. As he had always lived his life without bias or judgement, the chapel strives to mirror this by encouraging visitors to pray wherever and in any manner they prefer.
Humility. Although the overall design is modern, its forms and materials are simplistic and straightforward. Wood and stone elements are sourced locally from the area and color schemes are intended to complement the natural environment surrounding the chapel. This reflects Richard’s privileged upbringing and his choice to work hard and live simply.
The end result is a chapel both modern and traditional, high-end and accessible, a fitting testament to a beautiful soul.
